Lagos Yellow Taxi Drivers Stepping Up Their Games: Adopt Ride Hailing App
Lagos yellow taxi drivers in two weeks time will adopt the use of ride hailng app just like Uber and Bolt. These drivers are ready to embrace the use of technology. The Ride hailing app known as “Baba Dey Online” was launched on Monday, 7th Dec. by the Univasa Nigerian Limited, an information technology company. The idea for this project by Univasa came in place as a result of “Hunger For Innovation Technology”.
The ride hailing app “Baba Dey Online” is similar to Uber and Bolt features and can be downloaded on all phones. This is an awesome project seeing that Bolt has been talked about so many times on the unprofessionalism of their drivers.
The launching took place at Oshodi, the Lagos State Taxi Drivers and Cab Operations Association (LSTDCOA) headquarters. The chairman of the association was grateful for the partnership with Univasa. He made it known that the new system of operation will be at all taxi parks and branches across the state. He also mentioned discrimination on the yellow taxi should stop and that the government should let them operate on all routes and estates like the other ride hailing drivers.
There would be a training for all taxi drivers on how to operate the new system and Univasa is aiming to support the drivers with phones and even new cars with the help of partnering with other organisations over time.
Although, the ride hailing app would be adopted but there would also be an offline service for other transporters. This is good news, as you do not have to go to any taxi parks. Just book a ride on the Baba Dey Online on your phone and your taxi driver would locate you in a jiffy.
