The Toyota Yaris You Definitely Want To Drive
Since its inception in 1999, the Toyota Yaris has been known by everyone in the car scene as a humble, slow and reliable subcompact car good for the everyday boring commute…nothing exciting.
And this formula has worked for over 18years with healthy sales that encourage Toyota to keep making them. When you hear the name ‘Yaris’ a performance hatchback never comes to mind at all!
Well, Toyota had been observing its German rivals with the slurry of performance hatchbacks (Mercedes Benz A45 ///AMG, BMW M135i, and the Hyundai i10N) with the rising demand in the fast city moving hatch, Toyota saw the light!
They gave the already humble Yaris to their in-house racing team, Gazoo Racing (coolest names for a racing team) to give it some beef! And beef it up they did, pumping over 250hp into its tiny 1.6L engine!
Now the 2020 model is here with a few more horses, 268 to be precise, and All wheel drive system, a 0 to 100kph in 5.5 seconds time and a $36,000 price tag to entice any driving enthusiast.
Ladies and gentlemen, we’re entering a new era of cars, the turbocharged 3 cylinder hatchback is almost as fast or even faster than an 80s Ferrari.
